City Angler, as per most fisherman's stories, started on the bank, while wetting a line. This one though, is not so far fetched.
In a turn around time of 13 days, City Angler was born. Shopfitting, painting, stock ordering, labelling & stock loading, all done within those 312 hours (this took a few weeks of planning before hand). We would have finished sooner had we not been "forced" to take an afternoon off. Granted, we needed that little break, 7AM starts and only stopping in the early hours of the morning - just to get the doors open on 9AM on the 12th December 2025.
Nate - The Man, The Myth, The Legend. The brains behind the operation, Nate stepped away from the corporate world, with a fishing rod in hand, he found peace on the water. Opportunities arose, and the idea came. One simple line "Why don't we open our own store ?". Growing up in the Eastern Cape, fishing was a daily occurrence, scratching around the rocks for anything that will bite, moving to Jozi, he had to find another way to scratch the itch, along came bass fishing, a new pastime came along. A new daily escape - turned into his latest business venture !
Rob - The Muscle ! Rob comes from a history of fishing, dabbling in every form of the art he can get his hands on. Learning all the art forms from his grandfather and uncle, who ran their own fishing tackle store on the south coast. His first love, being Rock & Surf Angling - it was a tricky thing to pursue, being a 6 hour drive away from the closest saltwater. Rob found his feet in Bass Fishing, fishing local waters, close to the store - he spent every waking hour he could on the water. Chasing bass, carp, barbel and kurper on artificial, fly and bait fishing just to get his fill.
City Angler was born and built on the years of combined experience in fishing and business, creating an environment for every urban angler to find a new hangout, and conveniently stock up on the goods they may need for their next adventure !
